Reopening Update & Survey

Lea en español.

Dear Creative Minds Families:

We’ve been back at school, on a remote schedule, for almost two months now, and my team and I are in deep discussion about when Creative Minds students can safely return to the school building for in-person classes.

Since we first switched to remote learning last March, a single concern has been paramount: the health and safety of our community. This remains my top concern, one that guides all of my decisions. From there, the teaching team and I are focused on continuing—and growing—our strong, equitable academic program, which for now is happening in the remote classroom. Whether we’re together online or at school this year, all of us at Creative Minds are committed to the growth and learning of our students.

Please Share Your Feedback!

Our decision about when to offer in-person schedules will be based in science and data. It will take into account the public-health situation in DC, results from the student assessments that begin on October 19, and feedback from staff and families.

Vital to our decision-making are the ideas and opinions of every family member—and, yes, that includes you! I invite you to spend a few minutes filling out our brief survey on in-person learning and ensure that you are part of our reopening conversation.

The survey will be open until next Wednesday, October 21, at 5:00 p.m.

Next Steps

We’ll send another update the week of October 26. This update will include the following:

  • Results of our family and staff surveys
  • What the assessment data tell us about how students are doing on a remote schedule
  • A decision on whether any students may return to the building for in-person learning in 2020, before winter break
