Nayamka Long Named to Principal Advisory Council

Congratulations to Nayamka Long, Creative Minds chief academic officer, on being selected for the 2020 Superintendent’s Principal Advisory Council with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education. She’s joining other school leaders to share insights, suggestions, and feedback on OSSE policies and resources, with a focus on special education and literacy.

Nayamka was a Creative Minds International founding teacher—one among a small group of teachers and staff members who were with us when we first opened our doors, in 2012. She was the first member of our Instructional Leadership Team, and before she stepped into the role of chief academic officer, she directed the Creative Minds lower school program and then served as interim director of teaching & learning.

An International Primary Curriculum coordinator, Nayamka traveled to Chengdu, China, in 2018 for the Global Confucius Institute Conference, where educators from around the world discussed new ways to teach Mandarin as a foreign language and how to better promote the awareness of Chinese culture. Nayamka was one of 10 school leaders in the US chosen to attend the conference through Creative Minds’ partnership with Asia Society.

Before joining Creative Minds, Nayamka taught students from prekindergarten through the elementary grades in public, private, and charter schools. She holds an MA in education and human development from George Washington University and a BS in kinesiology from the College of William and Mary.

We are so proud of Nayamka for this well-deserved honor, and we know she’ll serve with distinction on the Principal Advisory Council.
